There are so many business books available that working out which ones are worth your time can be overwhelming. So how do you work out which books you should read with so many to choose from?
Our continuing series, “3 Business Books that Changed My Life”, aims to provide you with some guidance. We have asked some of Australia’s top business bloggers and business owners to nominate the books that have made an impact in their life.
In this post we feature the choices of Siimon Reynolds, an executive and entrepreneur coach who assists would-be entrepreneurs to perform to the highest standards possible.
He draws on his experience as a successful entrepreneur himself, having started his first business at the age of 23. His accomplishments include winning a slew of creative awards worldwide during his time in the advertising industry, and founding Photon, which grew to become a highly successful marketing services company operating around the globe.
Here are the three business books that changed his life:
“1. Think And Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
I read this book when I was about seventeen years old. It was a revelation and filled me with hope, excitement and ambition.
The book is a major study of the science of success, commissioned by the world’s richest man in the 1930s , the steel magnate Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie asked the author, Napoleon Hill, to spend 20 years meeting and studying America’s greatest achievers, in order to hear, straight from the horse’s mouth, what it takes to be super successful.
Think And Grow Rich was the result.
Since then it has not only been a source of inspiration for me, but every year millions of other people around the world are uplifted by the book. It is a true timeless classic .
2. Ten Minute Toughness – Jason Selk
This is a new book, but helped me enormously.
Jason Selk is a top mental coach for athletes in the United States. The book outlines his simple yet powerful ten minute daily strategy for keeping his athlete’s minds in peak condition. Although it was written for sports men and women, in my opinion it’s equally apt for business executives or indeed anyone who seeks to live life at a high level.
Selk’s time effective sytem really works- and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to lift their game or their mood.
3. Why People Fail: The 16 Obstacles to Success and How You Can Overcome Them – Siimon Reynolds
I wrote this book recently. It really did change my life because to write it I had to study the most cutting edge research on the planet on how human beings can achieve greatness.
The more I studied the experts in the field, the more I was able to apply their techniques in my own life. I also mixed in my own ideas and techniques that I had slowly gathered over 25 years of experience.
The truth is that failure is not an accident. There are 16 obstacles to success and clear stratgeies to overcome them. This book shows us all how to do that and achieve the life our dreams.”
