Same thing happened to me at a chocolate shop near Daylesford, the signs begun from the car-park (‘do not park on grass’) through to the foyer (‘please control your children’) to the shop (‘do not touch the walls’ – I kid you not!) and finally, ‘do not ask for free samples and do not be rude to our staff’. It was like someone had gone crazy with a printer and laminated everything every thought they had. I too walked out – without buying anything.

Great post Valerie. I often shake my head at businesses who are so concerned with “protecting their IP” that they miss out on the opportunity to draw new business in by sharing their knowledge and experience.

Protecting your IP is important but many business have a rather skewed view of what is worth protecting and what is worth giving away in buckets.
