Tomorrow, I’ll be heading to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I’ve never been to Rio before so I’ve been busy getting my yellow fever vaccination (you need to show you vaccination card to Australian Customs on your return), obtaining reais (Brazilian currency) and preparing for the panel I’m speaking on “Taking Social Media to Social Commerce”.
This is a fascinating topic as consumers are increasingly relying on social media to find out about new products, services and suppliers. I also believe that business owners who don’t understand the power of social commerce will fall way behind their competitors.
Where am I speaking? I’m honoured to be speaking at the second annual Dell Women’s Entrepreneurs Network. Obviously, hosted by Dell, it’s a gathering of female founders, CEOs, business owners and thought leaders. The MC for the event is Moira Forbes, publisher of Forbes Woman and other speakers include Arianna Huffington (Huffington Post), Sarah Prevette (Sprouter) and Carley Roney (founder of The Knot).
I’ll be bringing you ideas and insights gleaned from the event through my blogs and other media. And no doubt, I’ll be posting some scenes of Rio, Christ the Redeemer, Copacabana Beach and I’ll let you know if I catch sight of the Girl from Ipanema.
