  1. Adore Yoga

Great article! I agree that ‘giving back’ is an important consideration for businesses of all sizes. I recognise that the success of my own business, Adore Yoga, is entirely dependent on the support of our customers and feel that it’s important to support that community (beyond the provision of goods and services) in return. Adore Yoga turns 10 this year and to celebrate we are partnering with the National Breast Cancer Foundation to train yoga teachers how to adapt yoga to meet the needs of cancer patients. These teachers will then offer community classes for students with cancer.

As a very small business, the amount of money that we could donate to an organisation such as the NBCF is not substantial. However, by funding teacher training and community classes, we are able to reach far more people in our community and have a greater impact than donating cash alone (although we are actively engaged in fundraising activities too).

Contributing to a good cause in this way brings greater meaning and sense of belonging to our staff and customers. It helps us keep our priorities straight and it reminds us of the universal truth that we are all profoundly interconnected.
