In my Enterprise blog this week, I meet Atlassian CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes, Brasserie Bread CEO David James and The CEO School’s Chris Witt. Here’s what I learnt:
It’s hard to imagine how to apply new technology to grow an “old” or “traditional” business like a bakery. Sure you can blog and tweet about your fabulous sourdough but what else is there? According to David James, CEO of Brasserie Bread, an “old” business like baking bread is ripe with possibility when it comes to leveraging technology.
At The Leadership Exchange seminar run by the City of Sydney in its Let’s Talk Business series earlier this week, James highlighted some of the ways he’s applied technology to the business since he joined in 2005. Since then, Brasserie Bread has grown from servicing 80 wholesale customers to more than 500 customers across Sydney and Canberra. It holds popular baking classes and its cafe is frequently packed. James is also opening another branch of the bakery, cafe and training school in South Melbourne in September.
