A week in Texas at the South by South West Interactive Festival means a week of eating lots of cheese (they put it on everything here), waiting in endless queues (25,000 people attend this event), and a brain exploding with new ideas and inspiration.
That’s because it’s the sort of place where, in a 24 hour period, you could see Al Gore interview Sean Parker, bump into what seems like every best-selling business book author on the planet, and spot the trends that are most likely to impact your business in the near future.
However, one of the best parts of South by South West is the networking. I realised that it’s actually the connections that you make in the lounges, parties and through social networking that are going to be the most valuable part of the experience. It’s as if everyone you want to connect with fortuitously descends on Austin for an intense few days of get-to-know-you sessions.
Rather than write about it, I thought I’d let some pictures do the talking … but don’t worry, I’ll be reporting on some fabulous new tools that are great for small business very soon. So stay tuned.
