The Sydney Writers’ Centre is my main business. It’s also my passion.
I founded the Sydney Writers’ Centre in 2005 because … well … I love to write. As a journalist and author, I love sharing my knowledge to help other people get published or write with confidence.
My other passion is to help people realise that they can achieve whatever they put their mind to. I know that I am unlikely to coach someone to Olympic glory, or help a person climb Mount Everest. But I DO have a technical skill that I can share. Writing.
So everyday, I’m lucky enough to combine these two passions together – the result is the work we do at the Sydney Writers’ Centre.
Since 2005, I’ve been humbled to see almost 10,000 students pass through our doors. And it’s been a privilege to watch many students get published, score book deals, change careers or get promoted at work. It’s been so rewarding to know that we’ve played a small part in their success.
To me, words are wonderful. In all their forms. At the Sydney Writers’ Centre, we don’t discriminate about the kind of writing that you want to focus on. Whether you want to write a novel, magazine article, website or even a report or letter at work, it’s likely there is a course or seminar that can help you.
I also love the team that I work with here at the Centre – our wonderful core team who are in the office every day and our amazing group of presenters. They are among Australia’s top authors, journalists, bloggers, travel writers, business communication specialists and PR experts. They make the Centre a truly inspiring place to be.
Ultimately, I love our students and I am constantly amazed by their stories, talent and grace. They make this business more than just a business. I don’t feel like it’s work. How can it be when I spend each day watching people learn, seeing their excitement when they have that lightbulb moment, and witnessing their dreams come true?
