I’m not always a big fan of the GPS. I grew up without one so I got used to having to look up the Gregory’s (or Melways or Refidex, depending on what state you’re from) before setting off on a journey. Remember those? Their well thumbed pages used to sit in the glove compartment of your car before online maps and sat navs took over.
However, I’m sure you can relate when I tell you that I’ve used my car’s GPS on several occasions only to discover it’s taken me on the most circuitous route possible to my destination. While I’d like to trust its judgement, I just don’t!
And that’s why I usually look up my own route before grabbing my keys and getting into the car. So I’m loving this function on Windows Maps where you can draw on the map and it will also tell you the distance of your route. Thanks to Brett Gilbertson for posting this YouTube on it.
